Swinging flies for steelhead? When do you ditch the polyleader and go to T-14? How do you set up your swing? How many mends? Should you mend?
Nymphing for steelhead? How deep do you set your indicator, split shot, and flies? How do you mend for a long drag free drift?
The question everyone has.....where do you go?!?
Our steelhead clinic will answer all of those questions and more. The group will visit several different access spots. We will also work with you on proper presentation for swinging flies as well as nymphing.
The clinic will begin Thursday evening at the shop to discuss lines (skagit lines, sink tips, leaders, tippet, etc), flies, as well as techniques and tactics.
The second session takes place on the stream. We will meet in Forks, WA and drive to several of the area rivers to fish and work on techniques. We will focus on how to read the water, swung fly presentation, and nymphing. Tactics for single hand rods as well as two hand switch rods and spey rods will be covered.
Plan on the drive taking 3 hours from Gig Harbor. You might want to make this a two day adventure and stay in Forks. Saturday's session will be from 9-4 with an hour lunch break. For lunch you can bring your own or support one of the local restaurants in Forks.
Cancellation policy - If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know 10 days in advance. Cancellations or rescheduling within 10 days of class are only refunded if we can fill your spot. No refunds on no shows.
